5 Most Common Carpet Stains and How to Remove Them

We all have stains on carpets that we try to keep clean so desperately.

Not every stain is the same but always remember to DAB, NOT RUB the stain. Fortunately, most of the supplies you’ll need to clean the carpet are right in your kitchen.

So before you call the commercial carpet cleaning service, try these DIY tips and tricks.

Coffee and Tea

Coffee and tea stains are the most common and the most stubborn stains on carpets.
Dip the cloth in a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar and gently blot the stain.
Next up, pour some beer on it. Take the cloth and dab lightly. Repeat the process until it’s clean.
So coffee to sober and beer to clean up!

Fruit Juice

Another common culprit that stains carpets, especially if you have kids in your home.
Mix 1 ½ tablespoon of white vinegar with a tablespoon of laundry detergent and add 2 cups of water. Mix, apply and then blot the stain.

Wine

This one will need quick feet, quick thinking, and some science! If you spill wine, quickly blot up the spill.
Mix ¼ teaspoon of white vinegar with 32 ounces of water to fight the stain. And keep blotting until it looks dry and clean.

Ketchup

If ketchup dries on the carpet, prayer might be the only solution for you!
Sprinkle some salt and let it sit. Then, vacuum over it after a few minutes. Clean up any excess and repeat the process until the carpet looks clean.

Pet Stains

We love them. We cuddle them, but we hate to clean up after them!

Cleaning up cat and dog urine from carpets is a chore, but it has to be done.

Clean up any excess. Mix ¼ cup of vinegar into a quart of warm water and spray the mixture onto the stain. Let it soak into the carpet. Finally, blot until dry and clean.

These are the common stains and the DIY tips to remove them. However, a DIY job might not give you a squeaky clean, and fresh-smelling carpet. This is where a carpet cleaning service comes in!

Have your carpets cleaned and regularly treated to keep them looking as good as new.
